Antigua Guatemala

The colonial city of Antigua Guatemala is an enchanting city recognised as a cultural World Heritage by the UNESCO. It used to be the capital of the country during the Spanish colonisation. The city hosts many historical monuments such as churches, convents, monasteries, and beautiful houses where the noble families of that time used to live.  Its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, colourful houses, and the view of three magnificent volcanoes make Antigua Guatemala a charming and romantic destination.

La Antigua as is called as the local people offers a large variety of world recognised hotels, restaurants, museums, art, and shopping.

Tikal

Tikal is an archaeological site part of the Maya Biosphere Reserve located 65km from the island of Flores, a small village in the middle of the Lake Petén Itzá.  Its pyramids and temples are considered as one of the wonders of the modern world, declared natural and cultural World Heritage site by the UNESCO. It has an extension of approximately 1200 hectares, more than 3000 monuments which include temples, palace, altars, and Mayan ball game courts. Besides its historical heritage, Tikal is the home of an extensive neotropical flora and fauna, including jaguars, pumas, several species of monkeys one of them a very noisy named "Mono araña", and more than 300 species of birds such as toucans, parrots, and macaws.

Atitlán Lake

Atitlán is a beautiful lake located in the highlands of Guatemala, surrounded by three volcanoes, and ten small indigenous villages. The lake offers a spectacular landscape and extraordinary natural beauty as well as cultural experience. Here, you can visit indigenous communities, artisans, markets, coffee plantations or just enjoy the view of this beautiful place.

Chichicastenango

The market of Chichicastenango is a very interesting place to see the daily life of the Mayan community. The traditional market is open two days per week (Thursday and Sunday) around the local church of Santo Tomas. Here, you can find a large variety of handicrafts, paintings, textiles, and local fruits as well as to experience the immersion to a millennial culture.

The Verapaces

The Verapaces is a natural paradise with beautiful orchids, mountains, cloud forest, waterfall, rivers, caves, and lagoons. One of the most impressive nature reserves is Semuc Champey, here you can enjoy stunning views of nature, and swim in a crystalline river. There are also amazing caves and cenotes for a more adventurous expedition. This region is home to a large variety of wild orchids, birds, and a great biodiversity.
